Relax | Groovy Blue - Sabang Puerto Galera

Groovy Blue Hostel and Resto is a few minutes away from Sabang Port in Puerto Galera.  Its a quiet hostel (maybe because I came right after the fiesta - people were still asleep still drunk) and clean accommodation.  I came in late afternoon, and I met Matthew my host chilling between the swimming pool and pool table.  A cool american guy in a local setting, sweet if you ask me.  He knows a bit of the local language and its cool.  We have liaised quite a bit before I finally came.

If you want to get away from the city for a few days, chill and not hit the beach, then Sabang is the place for you.  I won't recommend Sabang if you want the beach (this will be covered in another article).  Now if you want to chill, have a quiet time during the day, and party at night atmosphere, then stay at Groovy Blue.

The hostel is just less than 5 minutes via walk to Monkey Beach (this is good for snorkelling) and 15 minutes away from Sabang Beach (which is good for parking of boats).  They have lots of clean rooms.  I guarantee you no foul smelling rooms and the linens are super comfy and clean to sleep in.  Rooms are airconditioned and rest rooms are well kept.  I mentioned earlier that Matthew is a cool guy, so staying here would definitely be a blast.

Rooms costs daily for Php600 and backpackers can avail of their Php350 bedspaces.  I always travel solo so I got the cheapest accommodations always.  Getting the bedspace was not only a good option but was comfortable as well.  They have a full stocked kitchen so you can cook there for an added cost.  I would suggest you cook, as restaurants in the area is a good walk down from the hostel and Sabang is a bit far via motorcycle.

Usually I try to sleep just for the night and transfer to another place, but staying in Groovy Blue had a cool effect on me.  I wished I could stay for a few more days and maybe in the near future I will.  I will ditch my bike and travel backpacker this time around.  I want to see Matthew again and maybe this time, I will have that swig of Emperador Light.

You can contact Matthew at 0921-4935913 or at their Facebook page here.
