About Town | Rise Brighter PH Lights Up its Charities

In a recent online meeting, Sun Life Philippines CEO and Country Head Mr. Benedict Sison opens up with how giving back to community is important to the company.  Be it planting trees at La Mesa watershed or cleaning up classrooms for Brigada Eskwela, volunteerism is very much alive among its employees.

Being in a pandemic is not an excuse for them not to up the ante in their charity work.  With the trying times, Sun Life Foundation recently launched their program Rise Brighter PH.

The program has 2 projects which will spearhead their company's 125th year anniversary in the country.

"Sun Pera-Aralan 2020 is a behaviour-based financial management program which aims to address financial insecurity and indebtedness among public school teachers..... Meanwhile  Sun Life Health Stations will focus on providing sustainable healthcare to the poorer sections of society." - Alex Narciso, President of Sun Life of Canada (Philippines) Inc. and Sun Life Foundation.

Both programs addresses two different aspects of society that's relevant and much more so during this time.  Sun Pera-Aralan teaches financial literacy among our public school teachers thus developing positive and practical daily money habits.  They also make use of budgeting tools like the Peso-Sobre, a regular money allocation scheme to be able to encourage savings.

The Sun Life Barangay Health Stations meanwhile will provide for a sustainable health care system to the poor sectors of society.  As a source so of primary health care, they intend to fill in the immediate health care needs of the community.

Sun Life with its Rise Brighter PH hopes to achieve financial security while improving healthy lives among Filipinos.
