About Town | The Third Integrated Waste Management Expo and Environmental Summit


As people are slowly becoming concerned about our environment, our very own Department of Natural Resources (DENR) - Waste Management Bureau conducted this summit in cooperation with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Philippine Information Agency, and the Local Governments of Quezon City and Taguig City.

The name of the summit is already a mouthful, this includes the numerous governmental agencies involved in this great endeavor.  With this steadfast valor towards the environment other companies likewise joined in, and through the exhibition or summit, showed off their way of helping the environment. You may see their contributions when you walk around their respective booths.

The summit also would like to strengthen the public's awareness of good law passed way back in 2000, the Republic Act 9003 or the "Ecological Solid Waste Management Act".  The law is already 17 years old and yet we have still have problems taking care of our solid waste and visibly created problems with our environment.  With the summit, the public is made aware of various ways to minimize our solid waste thereby lessening its impact to our surroundings.

They started the summit yesterday August 10 and would run up till August 11.  This thing is FREE so do drop in and see the many ways of preserving our environment.  Resource speakers are also lined up to talk about how to improve our solid waste management practices.
