Cafe | Coffee and Pastry at Bean Belt Coffee

Just a few blocks away from UST in Dapitan Manila, we found this great getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.  Its called Bean Belt Coffee.  Located at the second floor of Tinapayan Festival just right along Dapitan Street.

Upon entering its doors, you will be met with the stairs going to the cafe.  Upstairs, the cafe surprisingly takes you to another place.  A place of quiet and serenity.  Gone are the sounds of the city and you will forget that you are in noisy Manila.

Ambience is similar to that cafe's of BGC thus you feel cozy and easy right away.  No wonder students come here and study.  Immediately I got 25 years younger, I remember my college days but during my time, there were no cafes such as this.  If there were, I would certainly come to Bean Belt Coffee.

Being a cafe, they will surely boast of their repertoire of coffee selections.  I won't bore you with how their latte's or fraps blow me off my feet, that's a given.  Before I forget, get the Banana Cream Frap they have.  Just trust me, get it.

Now going back to my story, what I will extol to heavens is their food selection.  Pasta is great here.  We tried out the 4 pasta dishes and we were surprised with 1) taste and 2) serving size.  If you are light eater, then bring a friend, the pasta serving is almost good for two.  Another best seller in this place is their brunch menu.  They make their own longganisa and although they said it had Batangas twist in it, it brings me back to Vigan with the amount of garlic in them.  Another blockbuster is their sugpo in gata with bagoong, don't ask me to explain how, but the flavour permeates in those prawns.  Sauce alone of this is already viand if topped over rice.

Enough of the rice and pasta meals, we were served they die to for cheesecakes.  They weren't that sweet, just right that would go well with their coffee.  So if a light snack is your thing, try this with their hot coffee.  And don't get me started with their sandwiches.  This cafe packs a lot of food selection.

Now during this trip, we were treated to a new dish item off menu.  The Chicken Galantina.  They are introducing this yutetide treat just for the christmas season.  Its a whole chicken relleno of sorts and this one reeks flavor even with no sauce.  Another blockbuster in the kitchen that would blow off the socks off your guests at your christmas table.  As this is off menu, these are only available on order.  Priced at Php1,100 per chicken, they can be had only every Saturday and Sunday.  Take our advice, order on the weekdays and pick them up on the weekend.  They will have a long line of orders for this chicken.

To get hold of one for your table, the Chicken Galantina can be ordered at +63 2 732-2188 or 732-8718.  You may email them at lucky_tinapayan@yahoo.com.  Better yet, drop by at cafe in Dapitan via 1650 Dapitan corner Don Quijote, Sampaloc Manila.  For the tech savvy, they can be googled and wazed for directions to this place.
