Travel PH | My Half Baked Trip To White Beach in Puerto Galera
When I said half baked, this means that I didn't stay long in the beach. I stayed in Sabang which was 32 kilometers from White Beach. Our gracious hosts from Arkipelago Divers offered to give us a side trip to White Beach. Since I haven't been to this place it was an experience for me.
I fell in love with this beach right away. Not much people since we dropped by mid afternoon. Many said the splendor of White Beach is not the day beauty of it but the night time activities. Sadly we didn't stay that long enough to catch its splendor. We were content with the sun, the sand and the waters of White Beach.
First off, the beach is unusually clean. For a top tourist beach destination, I was hoping it wouldn't be. Glad that it were and we had a clear and clean view of the beach. It had a long strip of sand and I liked the view.
Commercialization has settled here in White Beach as lots of resorts line the sand, and the roads leading to it are full of buildings or accommodations. Parking for cars and motorcycles are available and you will have to walk the rest of the way to the beach.
For some reason, White Beach on mid afternoon is boring. No people walking, no people swimming. Even the fast food shops staff are sluggish. As we noted herein, White Beach boasts of its night life. Maybe next time.
This writer is okay with the tranquil and quiet White Beach we saw. So if you need quiet time, come mid afternoon. :)
Now to reach White Beach, from Makati or Cubao, simply take the bus to Batangas City Pier or Port. For schedules and fares, check the matrix herein.
From Batangas Pier or Port, there's a ferry to White Beach already. I guess the fare should be Php230 and there's terminal fees and environmental fees involved. That should be maybe Php60++ more or less. If White Beach is not available, you may take the ferry towards to Molle or Puerto Galera townproper. You may take the habal or jeep from the port and dropped off along the highway. White beach or your accommodation should be walking distance away.
For accommodations, you may use www.airbnb.com or simply call our hosts at Arkipelago Divers (if you are booking diving and accommodations with them).
Since I know I will be coming back to Puerto Galera, I hope to spend a night here or at least drop by in the evening to finally complete my White Beach Experience.
