About Town | Techtonic

Techtonic is a step in the right direction for the new businesses.  As we see various similar events abroad whereby angel investors band together to see which new businesses to help out, we wonder why the Philippines doesn't have one.  Now we do.

Angel investors are companies or individuals who are interested in investing their money into upstart companies.  Unlike the traditional investors who pool in their money with big firms, these guys are willing to risk their money with newly established companies or businesses.  Usually these guys were once in their lifetime visionaries and earned already from that vision.  They know the financial hardships they underwent in pushing their vision thus they felt they need to help those who follow in their footsteps.

This year, the Philippines is fortunate that we have an exposition to bring together these angel investors, foreign and domestic, in Techtonic.  These group in turn has attracted a number of viable startups as evidenced by their participation in the pitching competition.  A competition among startup companies, showing their product or service, hoping to win additional working capital coming from these angel investors.
Serve Happy winners!!!!

A number did join in and the overall winner was Serve Happy.  They bridge management and potential employees thus creating a happy service or job environment.  For their pitch, they were chosen as the winners with a Php500,000 cash prize.

Kudos to the organizers of Techtonic, we hope to have many more such competitions and conferences in the near future.
