Travel PH | A welcome treat for a long travel - Pagudpud Beach

Pagudpud is located at the northernmost part of the Philippines and is abundant in not only beaches but resorts as well.  The once tranquil pagudpud complete with powdery beaches is now complete with all sorts of commercialization.  When we arrived there I noticed the line of resorts and homestays along the road.  Although still a municipality, one will notice the number of locals and tourist alike walking on the sandy beaches of Pagudpud.

Tucked beside a mountain, this place is a great getaway for a weary individual hoping to recharge their batteries.

When you see this guy, you will have Globe signal. No LTE but 3G only.

Please be reminded also that Pagudpud is a digital vacation or detox of sorts as WIFI is non existent on this part of the world.  Even cellular signal is a problem here.  If you a globe telecom user, no luck, signal is only available for you when you hit the sandy beaches.  Go a few inland and that signal is lost.  For data users, globe only has 3G on the shore.  No luck with LTE.  They say Smart works and that maybe true, but as far as data or wifi is concerned I haven't seen someone with that network uploaded something in instagram or facebook.  They were in the same boat as me.

Now the sandy beaches are great if you use the strip fronting Hannah's Beach Resort.  Other than that the beach is lined with small rocks.  So stay over on the side of Hannah's Beach Resort.

For other recreational activities, you may partake in using the facilities of Hannah's Beach Resort.  They have a zipline, gun range, swimming pool, ATV, kayak, and jetski for public use.  Check out the rates at their office which is near Gate 1.  For details on these adventures click here.

As I said, commercialization is rampant here so if you want souvenirs, simply walk along the road and you find a nice guy selling these on his motobike.  Should you want larger items as souvenirs, there are two shops offering shirts and some desk items with the words Pagudpud emblazoned on them.

Should you need to buy some personal items and groceries, there are stores that would cater to your need.  Should you get hungry, there are a number of restaurants present offering various dishes be they local or international.

For foreigners, you won't be out of place here as people speak good english.  For locals, they speak Filipino well so no lost in translation here.  So for the visitors, Pagudpud is a tourist heaven so to speak. LOL.

How to get there.

Air Travel
the most convenient way to travel.  The closet airport here is the one in Laoag, roughly 75 kilometers.  There are 3 low cost airlines plying this destination, so choose between Cebu Pacific, Air Zest and PAL Express.

From the airport, hop on a tricycle to be ferried to the bus terminal.  Get on the bus going for Claveria Province, this will pass through Pagudpud where you will alight.  Fare should cost you Php150 on way and will take around one hour and 20 minutes.

Then take a tricycle to Pagudpud itself.

Travel by Bus from Manila
Take the Partas or Florida Bus Line from Cubao to Laoag.  Would normally cost you Php800++ for a regular airconditioned bus. Travel time is 10hours or more.

For bus schedules, try call these numbers.
Florida Bus Line - 02-7815894 (Sampaloc) / 077-7703645 (Laoag) / 078-846 2265 (Tuguegarao)
Partas Bus Line - 02-7278278 (Cubao) / 077-722 2933 or 077-7222935 (Vigan)

Then take a tricycle to Pagudpud.  We didn't ask how much is this as we were on a chartered bus when we went there.  As far as other travellers would suggest, better ask help from your hotel in Pagudpud to arrange for a pick up in Laoag.  Tricycles would immediately negotiate for your fare for which may vary from driver to driver.
