About Town | Pocky Festival at the Mall

Pocky has been a favorite for my kids so do I.  Pocky are simply biscuit sticks with chocolate coatings on them.  With different flavors, one will have a grand time in finding a new one everytime you see them in supermarkets.  My kids liked anything matcha or green tea and Pocky has it for us.
During one of our strolls in Festival Mall in Alabang, we have found a lot of kids with inflatable balloons in the shape of Pocky sticks.  We were intrigued where did these balloons come from?
After a while of walking, we finally found them on the ground floor of the mall.  A central area converted to a Pocky world.  Booths, picture wall and some activities were made available to the public to try out some Pocky flavors.  Now they also sold them with huge discounts.  We were persuaded to buy some however the long lines turned us off a bit.  We said we shall continue with our malling and come back later when the lines wean in the evening.
We did came back however the line was still there, and to add to our disappointment, the queue was longer than we first saw it.  We were not able to buy some.  Woe is us.  We never was that sad as we enjoyed going around the Pocky activity area.
In the end, we just have to buy some in the supermarket to take care of our craving.

About Pocky*
In 1922, Japanese company Ezaki Glico Co., Ltd. launched its fortified Glico caramel in a distinctive red box. Forty-four years later, Ezaki Glico released a new product into their family of fine foods—a chocolate-coated, pretzel-like cookie stick. Inspired by the Japanese onomatopoeia for the snapping sound made while eating these crispy sticks, they named their new product "Pocky." Hence, Pocky Chocolate was born.
In the beginning these sticks were each hand-dipped in chocolate, leaving one end of the stick (the "handle") bare. This unique handle design served a practical function during the hand-dipping process and became a useful benefit while eating Pocky, allowing for multi-tasking without getting chocolate on your hands.
As demand increased, the manual dipping process was replaced with more efficient solutions, but the signature handle design remained. The packaging has also evolved over the years while hanging on to its compact, easy-to-carry feature which makes it perfect as an on-the-go snack. And while the high-quality chocolate coating that has been enjoyed by so many for so long has not changed, new flavor varieties have been introduced including Pocky Strawberry and Pocky Matcha.
Over the years, Pocky has become a favorite amongst young and old alike. With plenty of sticks in each package, Pocky lends itself to sharing anytime, anywhere, with anyone. Popular for parties, office breaks, study breaks, and great as a garnish for ice cream or as cake decorations, Pocky has been enjoyed by generation after generation since its inception in 1966 nearly half a century ago.
Today Pocky is known around the world, and Ezaki Glico USA is proud to bring its family of Pocky products to select retailers near you.
